The Safe Haven Pregnancy Center celebrated its grand opening on Saturday in Asan.
“We’re all so excited that this has finally come to fruition,” said Jen Nauta, director of the shelter.
Nauta said the center will offer free classes on pregnancy, childbirth, life skills, parenting and breastfeeding. The center will also offer tutoring classes to those working to earn their GED.
Parents or expectant parents can attend classes and earn points at the centre’s “blessing room”, where they can redeem their points for new or slightly used baby items.
The center will offer pregnancy tests, Nauta said, and fundraise to purchase an ultrasound machine to offer exams to pregnant women. Adoption references and postabortion recovery advice will also be available.
The Safe Haven Pregnancy Center will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m.
Nauta said the door to the center is open for men and women who need help with pregnancy or raising children.
“I really want those who feel like they are having another baby, it would be too much or who don’t know what to do in this situation, to know that there is a place in Guam where they can go and get some money. help, ”Nauta said.
