AUGUSTA, Ga (WJBF) – You’ve watched it for years – actor Kevin Sorbo (aka “Hercules”) is the star of many religious films, including “God Is Not Dead”.
Next week, he will speak at a fundraiser for Augusta Care Pregnancy Center. I spoke with him recently about his conservative views and his Christian films.
“I’m stopped all the time by people all the time, and it’s not because of Hercules and Andromeda anymore, it’s because of movies like ‘What if’ and ‘God is not dead. And “Let There Be Light” and I have 5 more coming out next year.
But before the screening of these films, Sorbo will welcome the people of the garden city. He is the keynote speaker at the 34th Augusta Care Annual Pregnancy Center banquet… scheduled for Tuesday, October 15 at the Augusta Marriott.
“I do all kinds of lectures. I do professional life, Christian education, home schooling, yeah, I’ve been doing that for years.
This is the opportunity for the Christian actor to bear witness… by telling his story.
“I always put in my story because it’s also my trip and I don’t want to say too much but I also tie something historical with what’s going on in the world of Roe v Wade and I think the people find it. interesting from the comparison.
And while it might be a little unexpected from a Hollywood guy, Sorbo is proud to share his faith… and stand up for him.
“I don’t mind preaching to the choir, but I want those agnostics and atheists to come and hear too!” I am open to discussion – and I don’t get it, there is so much HATE on that side. To me it’s like ‘Let’s talk, why are you so mad about this?’ You know, you look at all these groups that are behind all these riots and looting and things and I think they’re really unhappy, really sad people, and we have to pray for these people. Sometimes people face me and scream, and I’m like, “I can hear you – shouting your negativity at me isn’t going to change my mind about God, I’m sorry! you know. So let’s have a civil discussion. I have Athiest friends, I have Agnostic friends, we have great debates, we have great discussions – we always go out golfing and have a beer afterwards and we are still friends.
And by the way, Sorbo is no stranger to Augusta. He told me he was a great golfer and had competed in the Masters Tournament “many times” over the years!
You can hear Kevin Sorbo’s post next week at Augusta Care’s 34th Annual Pregnancy Center Banquet. It’s Tuesday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Augusta Marriott. Tickets cost $ 85. For more information, call 706-724-5531.
